Here are some of our services:
Infant Care (6 weeks old – approx. 13 months)
Our Exceptional Milestones Infant Program provides a warm, welcoming environment where your baby can grow and develop over the months into a healthy, stimulated, curious young toddler. Your baby's primary teacher is a nurturing caring individual who will make sure your baby is happy and stimulated throughout the day. Your baby’s teacher focuses on creating experiences that support the rapid development that is occurring in your child's first year. More than just a daycare, at Teach and Learn Day School we are focused on keeping your baby happy, engaged, and feeling secure. In addition, we provide experiences to help in their cognitive, physical and social/emotional development.
We are definitely more than just a daycare center. We strive to help each child earn their potential. Our infants are taught Sign Language beginning at 4-5 months of age, so they can try to communicate their needs and wants to their teacher. Infants and Young Toddlers know what they want but they are unable to tell us using their voice because the vocal cord muscles are not yet fully developed. There is a lot of research out there that proves that Infants and Young Toddlers can communicate effectively through Sign Language even though they cannot yet speak.
Additionally we personalize care for each infant based on his or her unique schedule, nutritional guidelines, and any other special attention he/she requires. We also encourage open communication with our parents. You may call (or text with Michelle or Joann) as much as you want throughout the day. Michelle or Joann would be happy to send you a picture of your baby if you request it.
Our Waddler Program (From approx. thirteen months to twenty-five months)
Our First Steps Curriculum is designed to teach all areas of development including fine and gross motor skills, social/emotional development, physical growth, as well as language and communication skills. Our daily routine includes art, yoga, story time, singing songs and fingerplays, learning their ABC’s, colors, shapes, and counting. We also continue to build on the Sign Language taught in the Infant Room. In addition, we teach our young students the art of sharing and other social skills through interactive play. We keep the children busy all day playing, learning and growing.
Our Toddler Program (From Two to Three years old)
Our Bright Beginnings Curriculum for our two year-olds offers a secure, loving environment, with an established routine and schedule. Weekly themes are introduced along with the concept of Circle Time, the calendar and daily weather watchers. We continue to build on the Sign Language taught in the First Steps Curriculum but we also begin to incorporate Spanish, Character Education, Manners and Safety. This is in addition to learning their ABC’s, counting, shapes, letters, numbers and beginning writing skills among other things. In addition, our Toddlers are read to several times throughout the day, do creative art activities, participate in music and movement and yoga. They also enjoy gross motor free play outside throughout the day.
Pre-school classes (3 – 41/2 years old)
Our Shining Stars program and curriculum continues to build on the fundamentals of the two-year old program. We created a learning program using resources from High Reach Learning Curriculum, Creative Curriculum and Funshine Express. Our students do all the things the things our Toddler Class does but adds more complex fine motor skill exercises, they are taught recognition of Upper and Lowercase letters, numbers, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, beginning writing skills and beginning cutting skills. They also begin to learn the alphabet in sign language. All that on top of art, science experiments, Spanish, Character Education, Manners, and Safety lessons.
Pre-Kindergarten classes (41/2 – 5 years old)
Our Shining Stars Curriculum extends to our Pre-Kindergarten class. The emphasis of this program is to prepare our students for the rigors of any Kindergarten program they enroll in. The Pre-K program again builds on earlier learning and extends it to include writing letters, their name and numbers. Learning their addresses, recognition of Upper and Lowercase letters, recognition of numbers, and beginning sounds. Our students are introduced to sight words, beginning time and money skills and they learn to count to 100. We have a genuine cap and gown graduation each June for our Shining Stars Pre-Kindergarten class. We allow our parents to invite as many people as they would like. After the ceremony, we have a cake and refreshments for our graduates, and also for all family and friends that attend the ceremony. Last year we had almost 100 family members come to one of our graduation ceremonies!
Early opening – Late closing
We at Teach & Learn Day Schools really excel at before and after school care. We are the only child care center in the area that are opens at 6am. We do an outstanding job with our students by making them feel comfortable and relaxed when being dropped off so early. We are also open later than most other child care centers. This allows our parents a little extra time to pick up their children without rushing.
Before-school care - After-school programs
Teach & Learn Day School also offers before school and after school care for your child. Phoenixville Area School District will transport children to and from our center for East Pikeland Elementary, the Kindergarten Center, the Middle School and Renaissance Academy. We provide transportation to and from Barkley Elementary, Schuylkill Elementary and Owen J Roberts schools. Downingtown Area School District will only provide transportation to and from Beaver Creek Elementary. We provide transportation to all the other elementary schools and Collegium Charter School. We know how busy our parents are between picking your children up, getting them home and making dinner. We try to take the frustration out of homework time by making sure it is done before you pick up your child. While they are having a nutritious snack we take the time to sit with your child and help them with their homework. We truly understand what it means to be a working parent, so we do our very best to help our parents in every way.
School Age Summer Care
We offer a full time and flexible part time summer care for your school age child. We keep our school age students busy each day with many activities such as arts and crafts, science experiments, gymnastics, soccer instruction, games, required summer reading and two field trips per week.
Parents Night Out!
We here at Teach & Learn Day School really understand that our parents work hard and they need some adult time to wind down. To help with that we host one Friday a month a “Parents Night Out”. We stay open from 6:30pm until 10:30pm to care for your children while you go to the movies, out to dinner, shopping or to just relax at home. You can bring your child back to the center and let us entertain them with games, a movie, hide and seek or whatever your child would like to do. This allows you a few hours to yourself without having to find a sitter, or worrying about the safety of your child. We ask that you provide them dinner and any snacks you want them to have for the evening. The fee for this service is only five dollars an hour per child that is paid directly to the teacher that is working that parent’s night out. Teach & Learn Day School does not profit at all from offering this service to our parents.
What is included in your child’s tuition
We provide 2 healthy snacks per day, one in the morning, and one after rest time. We also provide a nutritious lunch with milk, fruit and a vegetable every day. If your child has any allergies, or cannot eat any certain foods, we post a large sign in our kitchen letting the person know that is making lunch. Our parents are also more than welcome to pack a lunch or snack if they choose to do so. We are very flexible in working with our parents to make sure you and your child are comfortable.
